January 23, 2009 at 2:15 am (Video Games)

Hey this is the first post in English, wonder why? Well we expect to get to more people using this language rather using our common language (Spanish, if you were wondering). Most of the staff here likes quite a bunch to play video games, besides our very first idea was a blog about our video game reviews.

Well back to the games, this list is what we consider the best 5 choices of online games for you to download (if you haven’t any of them yet). Most of them at the Xbox Live market place.

#5 Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2

You thought polygons seemed friendly? You still thing geometric figures are your friend geekie? Blow their damned straight angles off! This game’s graphics are simple but brilliant. Lots of bright colors, sparkling, a nice space like environment with some classic all-direction shooting gameplay make Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 one game to be owned. Though its simple control and objectives, the addictive gameplay and amazing visuals will make you spend hours playing it. We just had a great time shooting around and watching a ton of colorful explosions of our geometrical adversaries. And who knows, you may end up learning some geometry on the way.

#4 Banjo Kazooie

Ah, some many memories. One of the most popular platformer from the late 90’ is back. The first Banjo Kazooie game from 1998 is available at Xbox Live with some upgrades and new stuff. The game still looks like it did in the Nintendo 64, but it has some enhancements as it has been adapted for a wide screen resolution and the stop n’ swoop compatibility with the Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts game. The game presents almost no change on story except of some changed dialogue which includes game controls and the trial version. This game is really all-time must-have, Rare really did make a good work with this. Besides, it is loaded with a bunch of achievements which will make you spend quite a lot of time playing it.

#3 Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix

Thought Smash Brother was the only fighting multiplayer game worthy of you and your friends? Think again and that a look at the new Street Fighter which comes more super, more 2, more turbo and now in high resolution. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix is most likely a title which came out to the market a short time before the release of what really is the boss behind all this (Street Fighter IV). Still, for those who would like to enjoy some old school fighting game this is the perfect choice. With some of the most renown characters of all the previous games, some new moves and the main attraction; amazing visuals in high definition. This game will definitely calm down your anxiousness as you wait for the big package to go out on the market. Or in the other hand you won’t be able to control yourself, who knows. Just download the game and start playing, it’s the only way to figure it out.

#2 Braid

Mind puzzles, time manipulation abilities, inspiring phrases, nice relaxing music and a short moving story; you’re talking Braid. Bring some cookies and a coffee. At first you will feel like you are playing inside an art gallery, but relax, it will get better shortly. Puzzles get more challenging as you advance more on the game. You may notice some sort of resemblance to some Mario bros. games and somehow to the Banjo Kazooie Jigsaw puzzles. But anyway, its visuals and music make this game really artistic. It has a simple controller and gameplay, which makes it a very good choice for those days when you just want to sit down and relax playing a nice smooth game.

#1 Castle Crashers

Castle Crashers doesn’t remind you to those arcade which had a big screen and where up to 4 players? (The Avengers, TMNT, etc.) well Castle Crashers sure will stand up for those good old games. Its graphics look Flash player made, but don’t let this misguide you. The visuals are extremely well made and creative. The game consists on fighting hordes of enemies, mount on pooping deers and chopping off heads. The game isn’t much of thinking or solving puzzles, but you upgrade your skills and level up as you progress in the game. You can also find different weapons and some pets with special abilities that will help you though the way.

So now, gather your friends, order a pizza and start playing!
